Odette Graskie is a young artist living in Johannesburg, South Africa. She is interested in the imaginative, interaction and line. Graskie’s work is influenced by the people around her, the everyday interactions that highlight humanity. Graskie graduated with a BA in Fine Arts from the University of Pretoria in 2015. She works with storytelling in a variety of mediums, including textile art, ceramics and works on paper. Her recent solo show was entitled The Sorrows, at AVA Gallery in Cape Town.
Recently, Graskie has exhibited her work as one of the featured artists at the Turbine Art Fair Installations Program. She has previously had solo shows entitled Human Noise at Millennium Gallery in Pretoria as well as Ambedo at the Centre for Contemporary Art in Poland, where she had a residency in 2017.
Her upcoming group shows include ARTladies at Candice Berman Fine Art Gallery as well as Fases at Art on Avenues Gallery.
Graskie is also one half of the curatorial collaboration Bland & Boring along with fellow artist Chrisel Attewell.
